The Rocky Mountain Foundation for the Performing Arts

THE ROCKY MOUNTAIN FOUNDATION
         THE PERFORMING ARTS

I stumbled upon this site as I was scrolling on facebook today, and wondered why I never heard of it before.  It is the Rocky Mountain Foundation for the Performing Arts. https://rockymountainfpa.org/

The foundation's mission is: "Mission Statement: To keep music in the lives and hearts of the young who have it in them. The inspiration of the Foundation is the music of John Denver and as we grow, we hope to expand into other genres!"

They also have a facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/RMFFTPA/?fref=ts

Since you are here and most likely a fan, I thought I would share their worthy mission with you. Please visit their site and support their cause.  Visit the Guestbook page and add your comments, appreciation and experiences with John Denver's music.

I felt compelled to share the following on their guestbook and also to include it here to explain my passion for promoting the spirit of John Denver, the spirit of awareness of nature and others, of preservation and unity.

My RMFFRPA guest book comment is:

I like to say that I am more than a John Denver fan, I am a lover of his music, his message and the man he was and the spirit he is.  Ever since I was nine years old and heard his songs, my life was changed forever.  It opened my eyes to wonder and beauty of nature all around me and the importance of unity on this planet, in this universe.  As a science teacher, I incorporated his message in my teaching. ^^^ I was extremely fortunate to have “met” him, briefly, in person on two separate occasions at concerts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Waiting at the back door after a concert at the Riverside Theatre, he had a white cowboy hat in his lap, stuck his hand out the limo window, shook my hand and thanked me for coming to his concert. ^^^ Another time after a concert at the Summerfest grounds; it was pouring rain in a thunderstorm.  Most people had already left or ran for cover, and as I was walking past the stage where he had just performed, he stuck his head out the backstage door, looking for his transport. I was soaking wet, and he invited me to come in out of the rain. I stumbled up the stairs and he caught my hand and helped me in the door. He asked me if I had been to and how I liked the concert.  I was stunned. Tears started running down my face. I finally got out that I loved it and how I loved his music and loved him. A car honked, he smiled, pecked me on the cheek and said “thank you darlin’.” He asked the stage crew to let me stay until the rain let up, and he was gone.  Kind, sweet, unforgettable. ^^^ This might sound crazy, and it might just be me, but I swear there are times when I undeniably feel his spirit presence. On one such occasion, I looked out my window where I was living in the Sierra foothills, and staring back at me was a glorious red tail hawk. We looked at each other for a while when it dawned on me to get my camera. I was afraid my movement might scare him away, but when I came back, the hawk still there, I took a picture and felt compelled to whisper, “Thank you John”.  And at that, he crooked his head, opened his wings and flew away.  I’ve had other such experiences where what occurred seemed to be, undeniably, connected to him or one of his songs. In any case, I feel his spirit lives on; and each of us, who do what we do to continue his legacy and remembrance, has John Denver’s Spirit with us.  (I have a non-profit blog, entitled John Denver Spirit which I invite you to visit. It is still in its beginning stages. I welcome you to please add your comments and experience http://www.johndenverspirt.blogspot.com
